Back to Australian Alps Walking Track

Blue skies in Thredbo after 3 days of snow - in February!
White-out conditions, 2 hours after starting up Mt Kosiuszko.
And it only got worse!
Forget the Main Range route for this trip.
Finally, some blue skies near the Snowy River headwaters.
Fine weather at Whites River Hut
John at Schlink Pass
The Schlink Hilton.  Second best hut along the whole route. (Mt Wills Hut is the best!)
Rocky cascade below Valentine Hut.
View to the Main Range on a high ridge between Valentine River and Geehi River.
Crossing Geehi River
Distant view of Valentine Falls.
Rustic sign near Grey Mare Hut.
The easiest access to the Mt Jagungal summit is along a distinct trail leading south-east from this clearing beside the Tumut River.
Derelict slip-rail fence at Farm Ridge hut site.
Lyn crossing Diggers Creek
Exposed campsite between Mackeys Hut and Four Mile Hut.
Kerosene tin cladding struggles to keep out the draft at Four Mile Hut!
Crossing the Eucumbene River, just beyond Kiandra.
Tantangara Creek crossing
Witses Hut is drafty, but it would provide welcome shelter in bad weather!
The second crossing of Tantangara Creek requires good balance.
Lyn opts for the boots off approach.
It's the only option available for crossing the infant Murrumbidgee River.
There is no track between the Murrumbidgee River and Port Phillip Fire Trail.
Unpacking another food drop beside Port Phillip Fire Trail.
A short detour from Mosquito Creek Fire Trail leads to Hainsworth Hut.
Oldfields Hut
Heading into the ACT from Murray Gap.
There are plenty of campsites in the Orroral Valley.
The descent from Mt Tennent is long and tiring.
We finally made it to Tharwa Visitor Centre, 44 days and 14 food drops after starting our walk!
